Newest Update

Journal entry by Jill Claggett

Where has the year gone? I truly can't believe that a year ago I was recovering from my mastectomy. As I look back, I can honestly say that the experience has made me so much stronger in my faith and ensuring I put the right priorities in place. I've been constant in doing my journal and prayers every morning. And taking time to eat breakfast BEFORE i start to work. I used to get up and grab breakfast and login. I also enjoy a mug of tea every morning. So many other changes have taken place as a result of this ride.

So what's the latest...
  • Lung nodes - I had a scan in December which showed no change since last July. So now we move to an annual scan. Yea! Great news!
  • Letrozole - A little stiff in the morning but nothing major so that is still going well. Check-up again in April for my osteoporosis. I've read so much about the drugs used to treat this that I'm not sure what I'll do if my Dr recommends a treatment.
  • Breast Cancer screening - Met with my surgeon this week and she confirmed that there is no evidence of disease. Yipee! Not sure why, but this one made me really excited. I just need to be vigilant in checking for new lumps/bumps/odd skin things. I celebrated with an Acai bowl from Nautical bowls. My favorite!
  • Colon polyps - Colonoscopy is Feb 6th. 😏

So overall, I'm doing really well. I'm getting used to my new body image and embracing the flat look. Maybe someday I'll get out those prosthetics. I've been a little nervous about sending out an update as it seemed like each time I did that a year ago, the path would change. I finally remembered that God's got my plan and he will be there if it takes a wild turn.

My Aunt Diann was diagnosed this fall with the same kind of cancer as me. I'm so glad that I could provide her with wisdom and support that was given to me by my KC breast cancer friends. I really hope no one I know has to go down this path, but I know that I will be by their side helping them as all of you helped me.

FAF - (Flat & Fabulous)😀
