Journal

Another year has passed, and I didn't want to let the day get away without a quick update.
It was a beautiful day in Memphis - the first of this year that really felt like spring, which seemed so appropriate as I'm always remembering and celebrating my mom's love of color, flowers, JOY.
One of my cousins texted today with a memory of Aunt Jill wandering the yard with her then maybe 4 year old son...paintbrushes in hand and a cup of water, having him paint whatever part of the trees, driveways, birdhouses he desired...and the laughter and wonder that ensued.
I love this memory - it captures her so perfectly. I grieve that T and Philips didn't get to make these kind of memories with their Gigi. Though, a friend reminded me today: "One day they will paint with her." What a beautiful and hopeful thought!
I've spent some time meditating on these verses from Revelation lately as I think about Heaven: "Behold, the dwelling place of God is with man. He will dwell with them, and they will be his people, and God himself will be with them as their God. He will wipe away every tear from their eyes, and death shall be no more, neither shall there be mourning, nor crying, nor pain anymore, for the former things have passed away. And he who was seated on the throne said, "Behold, I am making all things new." Amen.

Last year on this day I wrote that we were almost ready to distribute and sell what remains of Mom's artwork.
One year later... :)
It's really happening!! We are partnering with Highland Galerie in Columbus to put on a show and sale in April.
The show will open both in the gallery and online the second week of April with an in-person reception on April 11.
More details to follow along with a link to the website, but today seemed like an appropriate one to announce this exciting news. We are thrilled to finally get the remaining art to those who loved her and her work.

I'm grateful to all of you who continue to remember Mom/Jill/Gigi and to share memories with us. Death never loses its sting this side of Heaven. We still grieve, but not without hope, longing for the day when all things will be made new.
