Hey all!
I've appreciated all that have texted/messaged etc to check in. I'm also grateful for the rays of sunshine that have found their way to my inbox/doorstep. I'm 9 days post-radiation and hoping that we're beginning the upward climb.
The crazy thing about cancer and cancer treatment is that it affects everyone differently. Both my mom and Grammy (Sandy) didn't have many issues in the way of skin problems. A few people I've talked to did and I was hoping I'd avoid it but no such luck!
I'll spare the actual visuals (insert the fun boob pic jokes here) but can basically liken it to sitting on Hermosa Beach for 3 days during June gloom without sunscreen because you stupidly think you don't need much sunscreen if it's not sunny (ask me how I know!). Unfortunately this particular burn didn't come with the fun that my day at the beach did.
The downside of this is I've been largely stationary and definitely grumpy for the past week. The upside is - the most comfortable place has been my desk and I've got some cool stuff to work on so I've been keeping busy. I also continued to be blessed by a great support system here at home - and in particular, Ashleigh has really risen to the occasion. She has been an outstanding help and even comes to check on me. I've also caved and gotten some pain meds and some better techniques for care so I'll continue to dwell on the positives!
