Happy 4th, Everyone! 🎆

Here we are, not even 4 days post operation. It's been a couple days of good and bad while dealing with pain management but overall things are going SO good. Those are not my words rather our oncology Dr., neuro surgery team and the amazing nurses. Things are going so good that in fact, our Oncology Doctor, Dr. Maggie, gave us some things to check off the list yesterday in order for us to go home. Pee, poop, eat, drink and move. Jett basically said hold my gown.

This morning when the team flooded our room to check in. They all agree that they want to see Jett heal at home. Speaking from experience, there are a lot of really great things that come from being in-patient but as said in my last post. It's just not restful.

So we just got home, setting up our area to care for Jett. He can't walk yet but is holding up his head and we can see that takes a lot of work. We are also quickly reminded that he wants to be back to normal as he tried getting off the couch when we walked away for a split moment. We do like to see that fierceness at the same time.

The best part of this is; we've been told that his tumor is the same as previous. A JPA...which is a low grade BENIGN tumor. For that we are thankful. We also informally heard that Dr. Nagib, our Neurosurgeon, felt that he indeed got ALL of those active tumor cells. Interesting fact, during the surgery Jett was in an OR-I room, that actually has an MRI in the operating room. Among the massive team of people working on Jett. Before Jett's head was 'closed' up they do an MRI to check if there are any of those active cells that light up. Also interesting, during surgery there is a team that solely keeps check on his neuro abilities to make sure he was tolerating everything. So he has random scratches all over his body as they check those senses.

I digress from the amazing news that everything looks great, the tumor is gone and he's able to heal. For that we scream to the rooftops. The reality for us, is,  we will have MRI's every 3 months and pray that this truly is it. We will adjust and deal with all of this in due time. (Thank god 2 of my BF's are therapists)

Lastly, we have our community far and wide cheering us on, praying or simply keeping us in their thoughts.  Posting this was hard, but it's our story. Our story that definitely doesn't define us but again reminds us of so much good. Thank you, thank you. 💓 🧠

With Love,

Kellie & PJ
