Journal entry by Jessica Knudson

I have another PET scan scheduled on Thursday, the 19th, with a follow up visit with my oncologist on the 25th. I know I need to do these scans and of course I want to know if my cancer came back but at the same time, I don't want to. It causes me such anxiety the day of and until I talk to my doctor. Fingers crossed everything is still good!

Other than that, I'm mostly back to normal. My rheumatoid arthritis is still not in remission. I started a new drug called Trumixa that is administered as an infusion similar to chemo. It's not really working very well and my rheumatologist put me on a steroid called prednisone. Prednisone is not a long term solution so hopefully when I see him later this month, he will have a better idea on what I need to do going forward. Without the prednisone, I was in extreme pain all day everyday and it was really starting to wear on me. Prednisone isn't helping my weight either. I'm officially 15lbs heavier than when I started chemo. Yea, yea, I know, my body has been through hell, blah blah, I'm still overweight. I'm still uncomfortable in my own body, my clothes are still too tight and I hate the way I look. I still have to work to get rid of it so.... I haven't been eating as healthy as I was but I'm slowly making my way back to better habits.

I have still been spending more time with family and friends and that makes me happy. My hair is slowly growing back. It's really soft. I don't think it's going to be curly. I think there are more gray hairs than before though. Not too many, I'm still lucky at my age I don't have more. It's exciting to see my hair grow and I can't wait until it is where I want it to be which will be years from now! I just wanted to reach out and let people know I'm still good and hoping for the best for my next scan. Hope everyone out there is doing good too. Thanks peeps!
