Jessica’s Story

Site created on August 3, 2016

Please note: this is NOT a donation site for Jessica and there is no need for donations. Caring Bridge is a user supported site that asks for donations, which is very nice, I'm just making sure people are aware that it is not necessary to donate to caring bridge- she does not receive those donations, and there is no need for donations to her.

Journal entry by Jennifer brandman

For those who wanted to see Jessica's Obituary, I have posted it below.
Also, for those of you who didn't know, Jessica decided on a whole body donation to UTMB. Her last generous gift to this world will allow students to study, research, learn and grow as healthcare professionals. Healthcare was such an important part of her life, and even in her death.

To those who knew and loved her: I am wishing you a new year filled with possibilities, and also wonderful memories of my sister to carry us all through.

On December 19,  2018, Jessica Sue Angelo, loving wife, sister, aunt, and niece,  passed away at the age of 36.

Jessica was born on April 29, 1982 to Jane Mays. She spent her career working in healthcare as a medical assistant and tech for many years, and received her Certified Emergency Medical Technician License in March of 2017. She had a life-long goal to serve others who were sick and hurting, and she said that being an EMT was her life’s greatest honor. On April 28, 2018, she married Bryan Angelo, and they went on to adopt her very well-loved dog, Harrison. Jessica was an amazing singer and had a talent for music. She loved karaoke, and was the bassist for two punk rock bands in her early twenties. Jessica was diagnosed with Triple Negative Breast Cancer in 2016 at the age of 34. She was only in remission for a few short months when the disease reoccurred and she was diagnosed with metastasis to her lungs in February of 2018.  Since that time, she has always had high hopes of treatment and recovery. She put on a brave face and marched into each new trial, new drug, and new treatment with a hope and confidence of a soldier going into battle. She always said it was the love of her husband, and her faith in God that kept her going. In her final days, she accepted peace in her situation. Although she loved her life deeply, and wanted to live so badly, she was not scared of death. She worried more about others who would go on without her.

Jessica was preceded in death by her mother,  Jane Mays Martin, her sister, Jeannette Weathers, her Godmother, Susan Clay, her uncle Neal Dickerson, her Grandmother, Evelyn Gillespie, and Grandfather Jack Gillespie, her cousin Jeanne Martin, and her best friend, Rebecca Miller, Jessica is survived by her husband, Bryan Angelo, her dog, Harrison, her twin sister, Jennifer Brandman and husband Andrew Brandman, her nieces Kaitlyn Brandman and Erika Brandman,  her loving aunts, uncles, cousins, her church family, and countless dear friends.
