Journal

Hello my friends and family!! I’m sorry I have not updated in a while, but to be honest dealing with all this has been a difficult and trying time on me emotionally and physically. So we have gone to see and oncologist and have had some testing done but things have been hard financially so a lot of our process has been stalled. Luckily I have been able to get things going again.

So as of right now we have done 2 Paracentisis procedures on me and both have yielded 4 litres of fluid the first time and 13 litres of fluid on the second procedure. Both of the pathologies on those specimens have come back negative of caner cells which is a good thing.

I have had idk how many ct scans since my start of treatment and the excessive fluid retention or ascites has caused me a lot of discomfort and pain but the scans have shown that the mass has not grown so that is a plus and definitely good news. Majority of my discomfort is due to the water retention and has been the worst part out of all of this.

However, our next step is to get a Thoracentisis to test the fluid around my lungs next to make sure that is negative and then a biopsy will be done to see what we are working with. However, we did get a window of hope in this journey. My new oncologist has suggest that there is a small percentage that I could not have cancer at ALL!! There is a small, small, small, chance I could have what is called Meigs Syndrome. In a nut shell it is a condition that can occur when there is a benign mass on the ovary that can cause water retention, and pleura effusions. They say it can be hard to diagnose at times and we are hoping that it might not be cancer which is something we want but can’t bring ourselves to get too excited over until we have all the information and results.

I will have faith and hope that Meigs ends up being my diagnosis and we can remove the mass and put this all behind us. I will keep everyone updated as much as I can and keep everyone in the loop.

Thank you to everyone who have called and sent letters and emailed me to check on me and my family. The kids look forward to going to school remotely and excited to see what the new school year has to bring.

I hope everyone is being safe in this Covid pandemic and that the kids have a safe and stress free transition into either remote learning or on campus. Love all of you!!
