Jessica’s Story

Site created on June 23, 2021

Late on June 17,  2021, Jessica was rushed to Methodist Hospital in St. Louis Park due to an excruciating headache and other symptoms.   Our family is thankful for the quick action by Joe, Jessica's boyfriend, who recognized that something was wrong and immediately got her to the hospital.  It was determined  these symptoms were caused by a ruptured brain aneurysm.  The procedure to stop the initial brain bleed and subsequent coil were successful.  Jessica had been in the ICU for three weeks but is recuperating at home now.  She is on medical leave from her job at Byerly's and will not be able to return to work until further notice.

Jessica's bright personality and endurance has remained strong.  Please join us in supporting this beautiful, smart, kind, caring woman's recovery.  We are praying for strength and protection from further brain complications (from two other aneurysms that need to be addressed at a later date).

We thank you for your support, love and prayers...

Journal entry by Jessica Bainbridge

Seven weeks out of the hospital. I am learning recovery is a full time job. I have appointments with various specialist: PT, OT and Speech weekly plus coming up: Neuro Ophthalmologist, Headache Specialist and  a Neurosurgery consultation to see what needs to be done with the other aneurysms.

I had my Neuro check up on Tuesday.  I was told not to expect to go back to work for the rest of this year.  My FMLA leave expires mid September along with my insurance. Jake and Nell have been helping navigate options.  It is a bit overwhelming.

I need quiet breaks and mini naps through the day, but I am able to have periods of feeling almost normal and get things done.  I am definitely more clumsy when try to move at my pre-rupture pace. The bruising is humorous due to my blood thinner! I am not sure what caused most of them!

Last time I stayed with Joe, his mother helped me discover Large Print Books at the library. It isn't as triggering as a screens and I have enjoyed reading with less strain. It has been so nice to escape into a good story.

The prayers, cards, word of encouragement, car rides, meals and donations have been beyond lovely.  It is completely humbling. Thank you again and forever! God Bless all of You!

Much Love, Jessica
