Journal entry by Jessica Miller

I don’t post on here much anymore, as I don't have much to share, but for anyone reading these are my thoughts today...

Once you get told “you have cancer”, your heart drops...and all you hear is things like, do this, do that, this is going to happen and so forth...then you go through treatments and surgeries and just plain hell. Finally, you beat it and you are on top of the world. But... when everyone is excited and celebrating because you are in remission they don’t know what life is like after beating cancer... the extreme anxiety you get ever time you get a “unusual pain” is that cancer again or is it just a normal feeling? Oh lord, I have a scan next week, am I okay or is that “c” word back...?” You constantly think about if or when you are going to get that nasty sickness back...Your mind never forgets about what you have been through, and everyday you are reminded how important it is to live each day to the fullest with no regrets! Before I was diagnosed with cancer I was so concerned about superficial things, and I would let the littlest of things bother me... Now I realize there are bigger and more important things to care/worry about like, family, waking up everyday, feeling good, eating, etc. Long story short....am I happy I got cancer? Absolutely not! However, I am happy about the person cancer made me become...yesterday I had my “every” 4 month scan and I am proud I can still say “FUCK YOU CANCER” you messed with the wrong person - but thank you, thank for teaching me what is important in life and why we should never take anything for granted.

I will continue to get scans every 4 months, but other than that Dr. Purcell said "everything you are doing, keep doing"...

Thanks for all the continued support!

Love y'all!
