Posting on behalf of the Anderson Family:
Jessica wants to update and reassure everyone that things seem to be going as well as can be expected after her transplant surgery August 27th. It's quite the major surgery to recover from so she didn't get out until Labor Day September 4th. She had some up and downs and needed a follow-up endoscopy procedure called an ERCP September 3rd to get a bile duct stent to open her bile duct that had swollen shut during the healing process. But she's tough and worked hard so was able to discharge from the hospital ahead of schedule about as early as they tend to ever see.
As part of the postoperative requirements, Jessica is staying at an apartment in the University area for a few weeks where she can recover and is close to her specialists for frequent labs or appointments almost every day. She's gotten to have a few days with visits from Eva and Kendall for short hours. They're doing great and had their first day of school yesterday. They were excited to tell Mom and Dad all about it over the phone last night! They are looking forward to their time as a family on weekends over these next couple of weeks until things get back to normal.
Jessica appreciates all the well wishes through her recovery! Please keep her donor and their family in your thoughts and prayers. Thank you to her transplant team with Fairview University. And thank you again to all of our family, friends, and coworkers who have helped support our family to get through this time in so many ways.
A $25 donation to CaringBridge powers a site like Jessica's for two weeks. Will you make a gift to help ensure that this site stays online for them and for you?
