I hope everyone is doing well.  We just wanted to provide a quick update on Jesse as it has been a while.

It has certainly been a long long road to recovery following COVID for Jesse.  We are starting to see progress and feel that he is on the path to healing, yet still know we have a little ways ahead of us.  Jesse still has “gunk” in his lungs and regularly requires the cough assist method to get it up.  He’s continuing nebulizers and shake vest treatments to help get it out.  We’ve been able to get him to his chair for longer periods of time and get him out of the house a couple times.  It’s slow going as we are needing to build back his tolerance to sitting upright and he gets getting quite dizzy from low blood pressure at times.

We’ve missed a couple clinical trial assessments at Froedtert due to Jesse being ill and not up for the trip to Milwaukee - so we don’t know exactly where he’s at with the ASIA exam.  He has been very concerned that without doing his PT/OT regularly he’s taken steps back in his progress, particularly in his blood pressure tolerance, strength and movement.  We finally got Jesse to PT/OT this week after a 2 month hiatus to learn that he really hasn’t gone too far back in his progress and he’s still doing very well compared to original baseline.  He is very thin though.  He’s lost at least 20 lbs through this bout of COVID.  The PT referred him to a nutritionist to see if we can get some meat back on his body.

We look forward to continued progress and hopeful that we can back into making big strides toward more independence.

Thank you for all your love and kindness, we are so grateful.

All our love, Sharon
