Jerry’s Story

Site created on August 9, 2020

We're sad to have to update Jerry's Story to tell you that Jerry passed away on Monday, September 28th.  He was able to be with us at home all during the last weeks since he stopped chemotherapy for colon cancer and was here with us at his passing.  Our children came to visit with their families during that time and then the four came by themselves to help and were all with him the last few days.  Thank you for all your good wishes during this time.  He was a people person and having friends like you made him happy.

Journal entry by Beverly Owens

At times Jerry enjoys all that is going on around here at home.  Our son, John, Julie and their children live here in Seward and have been really helping in so many ways.  The other children not in Seward have visited with their families. Steph, Dave, and Dan have or will be coming for additional visits from Washington, Iowa, and Arizona to see Jerry and help out.  Jerry and I often remark about how lucky we are to have kids that have grown into such wonderful adults.

We've enjoyed some visitors and even though his mind is playing tricks on him now he brightens up and has had some good visits with friends and family.  He even visited in Spanish and his Spanish hasn't been used in a long time!

Now we find that too much activity has left him exhausted and not feeling well, so we'll be regulating visits so as not to have too many in the day and for 15 minutes.

We'll really be grateful for your prayers for peaceful days and some enjoyable times for us.
