Jerry’s Story

Site created on November 18, 2020

Welcome to our CaringBridge website. We are using it to keep family and friends updated in one place. We appreciate your support and words of encouragement.   On Thursday, November 12, something caused Jerry to fall to the floor.  As he landed, the back of his head hit the floor causing a a brain bleed. He was taken immediately to Regions Hospital and has been there since then. The medical team has not been able to understand what might have made him go down in the first place. When he arrived at the hospital his blood pressure was very high and it has been a struggle to get that stabilized. It all has left him with an expressive aphasia, which means he is not able to express himself verbally. Today he is moving from the trauma unit of the hospital to a transitional rehab unit.

This will no doubt be my last post on Caring Bridge.  Jerry is doing so very well.  He is once again talking with clients when they call/email with questions and requests.  He has been going downtown to the office a couple of days/week and even walks down there.  Last weekend he did a lot of the shoveling of our driveway with the 3 or so inches of snow that we got.  He still needs to think about the words when he is speaking but that continues to improve and he will have just one more session with speech therapy.  The fact that he has progressed this far in just over 2 months is amazing.  We expect, with more time, that he will be back to where he was before his fall.  Now, we just need to keep him on his feet!

Colossians 3:17 - And whatever you do, whether in word or deed, do it all in the name of the Lord Jesus, giving thanks to God the Father through him.
