Journal entry by Jeri Bishop —
Sorry for not updating sooner. Yesterday was a busy day and today we have all been resting and getting settled back in.
Dad was released from the hospital yesterday and we all flew home around 4:00. We have never been so happy to be back in Bama as we were yesterday!!
Dad is doing awesome! He is feeling and looking is much better. His brain and heart are looking great and he will be following up with his cardiologist and neuro doctors next week. He will start out patient physical therapy as well.
He does have a pretty bad bedsore that the wound care specialist will be visiting him to help treat so that he can heal and get back to 100%.
If you would have told us a week ago that Dad would be sitting in his living room relaxing and acting like he hadn’t just had two stents put in his heart and a bilateral subdural hematoma on his brain, we would have never believed you. But because of your prayers and God’s blessings, Dad is doing just that!! I have never seen so clearly and so profoundly how amazing God’s work is as we saw this past week. All of the nurses and doctors at the University of Maryland Medical Center in Shock Trauma were absolutely precious to all of us. We even had a security guard who was our amazing ray of sunshine each day as we passed through. We had some awesome Uber drivers that carried us to and from the hospital each day and evening and even our hotel staff was incredible. All of you who prayed, helped my parents out financially by sending donations, and just did everything you could to make sure they were taken care of, have just made a very scary and stressful situation become one where we were at peace knowing that God was using each of you to bless us all and show us how GREAT God is! We are all so thankful for everyone that has loved and cared about our family during this time. We are all so very blessed. ❤️
