Jerry’s Story

Site created on November 27, 2022

In early September 2022, Jerry began experiencing  stomach pain that never subsided completely. The pain continued to increase, and he began having trouble swallowing food. After an ER visit, dr visits, weight loss, a swallow test, and an endoscopy, it was determined he has Esophageal Carcinoma, cancer of the esophagus. He has a great medical team. We are staying positive & optimistic that it hasn’t hasn’t spread, and is located in the one area in the tumor is in. Tomorrow, 11/28, he will meet with  oncologist & surgeon to determine the best treatment.  This page will be updated as we learn more. Your thoughts & prayers for Jerry, Maria & family are much appreciated.

Newest Update

Journal entry by Hollie Henderson

It’s been a while since the last update. Currently, Jerry is scheduled to begin Chemotherapy on March 3rd. In the last   few weeks, he’s had esophagus dilation procedures done to widen the esophagus to allow Jerry to eat better, and allow him to gain weight faster. He still had the G-Tube for additional nutrition until he stabilizes his weight gain.

We are working to plan a Trivia Night for later this Spring. We also will be opening up Team Jerry T-Shirts  again this coming week.   We will have a new T-shirt provider due to ongoing issues with the one that is doing the first orders. Cost will stay the same but we will get them much quicker as it’s someone in my office that has the T-shirt business.  For those that ordered them the first go around, I’m being told they will be ready this week.

My dear sister-in-law, Maria,  has been amazing through all of this, and has never left Jerry’s side.  If you click on the drop down box and click on “Ways to Help”,  Maria created a Go Fund Me  to help with the mounting medical costs they are incurring, and will continue to incur is Jerry continuous his battle to beat cancer. You can also copy & paste the link below.

Anything is greatly appreciated no matter how small. But if you cannot give, your prayers and sharing this page would mean a lot.

love & blessings to all,

Hollie
