Jerry’s Story

Site created on January 24, 2019

After months of frustrating symptoms and many specialists, Jerry was diagnosed on January 24, 2019 with AngioImmunoblastic T-cell Lymphoma. This form of cancer is quite rare and very difficult to diagnose which explains the long journey up to this point. He is starting a chemotherapy treatment immediately.

Newest Update

Journal entry by Kara Van Drie

My last update included my dad's struggle with an E. coli infection that sent him to the hospital. Since that post Dad also fought a C. Diff. infection that made him quite sick - although he did not need to reenter the hospital. He was given antibiotics and spent most of October feeling quite well!

This morning he learned that he has a recurrence of the C. Diff. infection. He will be on an antibiotic regimen that will last longer than the first time around. He will not take his chemo pill while on the antibiotic.

While we are grateful that his current symptoms have an explanation that can be treated, it is always unnerving to take a break from the chemotherapy.

Please pray that this round of antibiotics will take care of the C. Diff. infection for good and that the cancer cells do not use this opportunity to reappear.
