Wednesday November 28th

Back at St John’s Cancer Care for the next chemo infusion. It has been a long couple weeks. The learning curve of chemo, after effects and anti meds has been challenging to say the least. Because the steroids Jerry takes to combat the side effects end on Monday after the chemo, he was having quite a bit of pain in his stomach. Thanksgiving we laid low while having a great meal that was delivered to us by Ernie’s high school friend Connor Hubbs and his family. Friday had a rough start with a visit to St John’s. Spent a few hours getting some meds through his port to help stop the side effects and of course the wonderful staff at St John’s had him turned around in no time. They put Jerry on a stronger med for diarrhea and nausea which seemed to help tremendously. Monday Jerry went into work for a few hours but he is pretty much done working. Only goes in one or two times per week just to get out of the house. Hopefully he gets accepted on disability at some point but the waiting period is about 5 months. Tuesday he spent the day with his brother Greg and had lunch at Keys and today Wednesday we are back in the chemo chair. For the most part it is an overload of information and it seems like we ask the same question over and over. I try remember all the info but I think I only retain about 10% of what I am told. Prognosis for the type of cancer Jerry’s has is not good but we make the best of everyday. Jesus has a purpose for all of us, and usually it is different than what our plan is. As we struggle with the cancer diagnosis we know we are held in the hands of The Almighty One. We have faith in the knowledge and precision of the Team at St John’s. Our hope is to find a cure for cancer and all the folks who suffer from it. We appreciate all the phone calls, cards, visits, meals, donations and support from each and every one of you. We have an amazing support system.

PS: Jennifer OCN/RN is an Angel sent from heaven. She has answered every question we have (over and over and over) with dignity and a genuine smile on her face. Thank you!

Much Love
Jerry and Team Price is Right
