Jennifer’s Story

Site created on November 30, 2022

Hello and welcome! Jen's Caring Bridge page will be filled with updates on her medical care, how she's feeling, what she's eating, and how many Hallmark Christmas movies she is watching. Please bookmark this page and visit often!

On October 5, 2022, Jen was diagnosed with breast cancer after a routine boobie smash (mammogram) and biopsy. On November 1, she underwent a partial mastectomy hoping to get clear margins and get started on any chemotherapy and radiation she would need. Unfortunately, they could not achieve this as the tumor was larger than originally thought, and a lymph node also tested positive, moving her diagnosis to Stage II-A.

She was scheduled for a double mastectomy on November 29, but we decided to wait for a second opinion from Mayo Clinic before proceeding with that. And this is where the journal begins...

Journal entry by Kelly Kirby

Jen's PET scan remains clear. Superstition validated and will continue. Thank you all for the positive thoughts!

p.s. This song has no connection to anything except Jen casually said one day, "I can sing "Genie in a Bottle" in Spanish," as though this is just a normal thing she learned in school. And then she proved it. And it has never failed to make me laugh.
