Jennifer’s Story

Site created on June 26, 2023

Welcome to our CaringBridge website. We are using it to keep family and friends updated on my path of healing.   I received a diagnosis of colon cancer at the age 50 when had my first routine colonoscopy.  We had prayed and hoped the surgery would remove it all and I could begin my path of healing.  However, the stage 3A post-      surgical diagnosis means there are additional steps to be taken along my path of healing.  We appreciate your prayers, support and words of hope and encouragement.

My husband, Rob, continues to be my rock as we are at the part where we vowed  "in sickness and in health".  Our amazing boys, Drew and Peter,  are my everyday joy.

We're sharing this diagnosis to remind those who have not yet had a colonoscopy,  to schedule yours now.    Colon cancer is in the top 5 common cancers in the US.  The recommended age for anyone without a family history is now starting at 45.

Hi! Happy 2024!!!
Sorry for the delay but wanted to reach all my milestones before an update!
Chemo was completed 12/27!
Continues to be 'no evidence of cancer'!!  (I'll report in every 6 months for a few years for a CT scan/bloodwork to continue to confirm 'no evidence of cancer'.)
Today I had a complete colonoscopy, since first one was not able to be a completed 100%. Looking good!  (Will repeat in a year so continuing to keep a close eye.)

SOOooo grateful for the amount of good medical options we have so close to us.
Cannot thank all of you enough for your prayers and support!   It has meant the world to Rob and I throughout this journey.  THANK YOU!!
A reminder, get your routine colonoscopies scheduled!  Starts at 45 now...
