Journal entry by Julie Rowland

Update on Jenny....  Dr. Hsiao came in before surgery to talk to her one last time about the size she wanted to be. As most of you know, this has been a BIG debate!!  “A little bigger, a little smaller, definitely not like Dolly!!”  As he spoke to her, he told her he had dealt with people like her with this “A-type personality”!!  He realized it was hard for her to not be in control, but gave her 2 choices. He told her she could either pick the exact size/number implant that she wanted and that is exactly what he would put in, OR, she could trust him to make the decision!!  Relinquish the decision to him!!  She decided on the latter, but then proceeded to tell him what she thought!  He told her she didn’t get to do that anymore, that she needed to trust him!!  We spent the next few minutes reassuring her!!  This IS his job!!!!  This IS his expertise!  And trust me, he is going to make sure you have exactly what you want!!!  They finally took her to surgery!

Apparently, before they put her to sleep, Dr. Hsiao asked Jenny if she had been on any vacations lately!  She told him about her recent trip to New York how her expanders had made it on the Today Show!!!!  He could not believe it and told her he wanted to see the whole video when she comes in for her follow up!!

Surgery lasted about 1 1/2 hours. When it was done, Dr. Hsiao told us everything went great!!  Before we could even ask, he said, “I am not going to tell you what size implant I put in!!  I am not going to tell Jenny either!!”  What???? I asked!  I told him she was going to ask!  He said he knew she would, but he wanted her to give them an honest opinion without knowing exactly what size they were!!  He would tell her at her follow up appointment after he hears how she feels about them!!  What a smart man!!!!!!

Jenny was very groggy/tired for quite awhile after surgery. However, she was INSISTING that she was going to go to her nephew’s spellbowl competition that started at 5:00pm!! (It was already 3:15!). She kept looking at the clock in the hospital and thinking she was going to just go straight there!!  I finally convinced her she could not go!!  She made me promise I would write down all the words from the competition so she could try to spell them all tomorrow  and see how she did!!!!  She also wanted to see if she could beat AT!

Jenny is home now and resting. She is still VERY tired and in some pain. Hopefully she will get some much needed sleep tonight. Hopefully tomorrow will be a better day, a new day, with new boobs!!
