Sign In to Show Your SupportI am home from my surgery and Odin is home from his swallow study! Both gave us more answers.
Jesse made it to my surgery minutes before I was taken back to the OR, I was so grateful. Surgery was a bit more invasive than they imagined based on my scans and I am in a lot of pain…miserable really. I cannot take stronger pain medication due to my other health issues so I am toughing it out with Tylenol. They found two large tumors - the polyp/tumor and another tumor that didn’t quite look like a polyp or a fibroid. They scraped out the lining of my endometrium and said it looked “abnormal.” Lots of biopsies were taken to make sure we are getting the full picture. They visualized my c-section defect a bit better as well. I will be following up with my doctor post-op next week and should hopefully have biopsy results at that appointment.
Odin’s swallow study yielded results that will take some processing. The doctors were able to conference me in via phone so I could hear the plan and of course ask a million questions. His providers want to keep him on a bottle flow for a 0-3 month old baby and are now having us thicken all bottles to an IDDSI 2. Even at that, he is still having deep penetrations. He will be allowed to continue purées & yogurt melts but can NOT have any other types of solids at this time. He can’t advance to a sippy cup or a honey bear cup yet either. This was hard to hear…a g-tube is still very much so on the table. Odin meets with Cardiology, Pulmonology, and then Aerodigestive in the next few weeks/months to get a better long term plan. He’ll continue his feeding therapy with his CCC-SLP in the meantime working on mastering purée and melts.
I will hopefully update again as we get notes results and answers from all of our procedures and surgeries!!!
Thank you everyone for checking in and giving me support! 🥰
