Journal entry by Jennifer Wunder —
Home at last!
Surgery went well. I was home around 1130 (maybe earlier. I honestly have no concept of time right now!). I’m sore but there is already relief (it’s nice to not feel like I have a lead balloon in my armpit). While I haven’t checked any of my incisions (not there yet physically or mentally), all seems to have gone as expected. I can shower and take off the dressings tomorrow. I’ll wear my super fancy hospital grade compression bra for 5 days. I’ll be back to see my surgeon next Friday. Lots of rest through the weekend. No lifting anything heavier than a gallon of milk for 2 weeks (the nurse also said no chores around the house 😉😉).
But for now, I just want to sleep (that nap they promised certainly wasn’t long enough!). I made my shelf stay up until my next dose of meds but now that I have those in my system, I make no promises for when I’ll be awake again.
I am so grateful for my doctors, nurses (especially Bunny who sang gospel music to me when she inserted my IV), and, of course, my family and friends! Here’s to getting stronger again each day! 💕
