Jennifer’s Story

Site created on March 26, 2019

Hello Friends and Family- Some of you may or may not know that I have been experiencing headaches for the past month or longer.  I was being treated for a sinus infection and when that did not seem to help, I asked to have a CT scan done.  Which was done on March 21, 2019.  I then received a call to come back in the next day for a MRI scan, followed with a meeting with my doctor who confirmed the results.  In layman's terms I have what they believe to be a benign mass 26mm (about one inch) in size on the right side of my brain (paramedian right parietal) I think I have that correct.  What it comes down to, is that I will need to have brain surgery and have it removed sooner than later.  I currently have an appointment with a neurosurgeon on April 2 and then I will be going to the Mayo Clinic on April 11 for two appointments. The first appointment is with the oncology team and then the next appointment is with their neurological team, which will then schedule my surgery.  Never, ever did imagine that I would be creating my own Caring Bridge page.  But I feel this a great method of communicating new information, without having to contact everyone individually.  I will update this site whenever I learn more information and when I'm no longer able to, I will have someone else take it over.  So check back for updates and please keep your positive thoughts and prayers coming my way.  It's amazing how truly blessed I am to have such a great family and many dear friends.  I will get through this and remain positive through the process.  Thanks again it is appreciated!

Newest Update

Journal entry by Jennifer Montanez

Hello Everyone!! Sorry I didn't post anything sooner.  I had my 3 month follow up appointment at the Mayo Clinic this past Monday.   My sister Janelle went with me to it.  It ended up being a very long day, but the results were worth the wait.

My MRI came back good, just a small spot that they will continue to monitor.  Other than that everything seems good.  I'm so thankful for that and my next appointment there will be at my one year follow up.  I will go back every year for the next 10 years for follow ups.

Now for my blood clots.  I have an appointment next week to check to see if they are gone and a follow up appointment with the doctor on July 29.  Hoping they are gone and then I can stop the blood thinner and get things back to normal again.

Thank you all once again for your caring thoughts, prayers and cards!!  I truly appreciate them.

Take care and make today a GREAT day!
Love you all!
