Jennifer’s Story

Site created on June 19, 2015

I was diagnosed with breast cancer almost 4 years ago at age 26. I was told them due to how advanced it was that it would come back. Actually the oncologist said, "it's not a matter of IF it will come back, but when." I found out officially on June 18 it is back. I wanted a place to update everyone on my treatment progress and plan that didn't force it to be in your face all the time. (Facebook) so here it is.

Journal entry by Jennifer Donald

We found out last week that the cancer has come back, or quit responding to the treatment. Today I start a new regimen of medications. The statistics look promising. This regimen has only been approved by the FDA this year. I'm definitely hoping for the best. This new regimen is a combination of 2 oral medication called capcitabine and tucatanib along with an infusion of trastuzumab. The trastuzumab I have been receiving with different medication combinations since the beginning.

I have a biopsy scheduled for Friday of some of the lymph nodes in my abdomen that are full of cancer. We are hoping the biopsy will tell us the cancer has not morphed into a different form or is not an entire different cancer. So praying and hoping to continue to have HER2 positive disease.
