Journal entry by Craig Badura

A week ago yesterday Jennifer arrived back at home here in Aurora.

Weekly Summary

  1. Jennifer started Physical Therapy and Occupational Therapy here in Aurora.  Mark and Kim have been doing a fantastic job with Jennifer.  They continually challenge her to get back to "normal."
  2. On Thursday, Jennifer decided to stop using the walker she had been utilizing.
  3. Jennifer's balance and mobility have greatly improved throughout the week.
  4. Jennifer is still experiencing some major headaches, especially at night, and cannot sleep well.  This leads to lots of naps during the day.
  5. You know me and the fact that I love to cook.  Finding something to cook that sounds appealing to Jennifer has been a struggle.  She just doesn't have an appetite and has lost  12 pounds in the last three weeks.   Jennifer has said that "the West Nile Diet is effective, but does not recommend it to anyone."
  6.  Meningitis has caused quite a bit of inflammation in Jen's body and she still has a very sore neck and has commented that her hearing has changed somewhat.
  7. I had Dani K. over on Thursday at the house to give Jennifer an hour massage and Jennifer commented that it was "heavenly."
  8. We've been able to take a few very short walks and like to sit out on the patio in the evenings to enjoy the weather.

We want to thank everyone for your continued thoughts, prayers, and well wishes.   With TIME, we will get Jennifer back to feeling like her normal self again.  She and I can't wait for that day.
