This will serve as the final journal entry in this caring bridge story. However, it is far from the end of the story of our angel son, DJ. I hope that this post provides all of you amazing people who have followed along, prayed, donated, helped watch our home, etc. some of the closure that Jenna and I are desperately searching for. 

We will be hosting a private service for DJ next week on Tuesday, the 29th at 10am, two weeks after DJ came into this world, at our church. The service will be provided by Pastor Tim, who also baptized DJ. Jenna and I will share finer details with our families directly via text. A final note on our GoFundMe fundraiser; 

We would like to offer some clarity on what our fundraiser will be used for. We first set it up with the hopes and thought that DJ’s road in the NICU would be a very long one, lasting all the way through September - we set the original fundraiser to provide funds so that Jenna could have an extended maternity leave where she could be with DJ in the NICU. Now that that isn’t happening, we would like to share with you all who have donated what the funds will be used for. First, we will pay our insurance deductible. Second, we will be now beginning a search that has never even crossed our minds before, but Jenna and I will never let DJ be truly alone, and we will be searching and purchasing  burial plots so that one day we will all be reunited physically. Third, we will be replacing Jenna’s summer income that she would have gotten through a summer job. Finally, and arguably most importantly, we plan to make a donation back to Children’s Hospitals in DJ’s name. Jenna and I hope to make an annual donation on/around DJ’s birthday moving forward to Children’s to honor his memory, and to continue the amazing work that their staff does on a day to day basis for countless families weathering the storm that we have now gone through. Finally, Jenna and I want to thank you all. Thank you for continuously coming back to this site to see how our son was doing. Thank you all for your prayers, we saw so many amazing prayer chains occurring on our social media’s. Thank you for your donations, thank you for your texts and calls. Thank you for offering us food, or to watch our house and pets. We will never be able to thank you all enough. Thank you for helping give our son nothing but pure love for his short stay on this Earth. You all provided comfort to Jenna and me as we lived through this.
