Praise God! Emmie is home!
She will get labs twice a week and we are still tweaking some of her levels and trying to figure out her hydration needs, but her kidney continues to make good urine!
Last night she slept in her own bed without dialysis for the first time in her life. Thank you Jesus! This is a true miracle.
She is on a high dose of immunosuppressant medications to keep her body from rejecting her new kidney. These meds will be tapered at 3, 6 and 12 months. In the meantime, our girls will be in virtual school and we are back to face masks and 2020 protocols.
We are busy learning new medication schedules, cares and virtual school but we are already sleeping better than ever before.
My recovery has slowed down a bit because it’s hard to rest with everything going on, but I’m trying to “behave.”
Emmie has come off of two BP meds, and her BP is 100x better although we still need her diastolic BP to come down to reverse the hardening of her heart that it caused. We will get there! I’m praying she doesn’t need her last BP med for much longer.
She also got a stomach bug in the hospital despite our precautions. If there’s a germ in the room, she’s going to find it. She’s on antibiotics for 10 days and we are prayerful her immune system can do it’s job.
Thank you all for the continued prayers! Our girl is so happy to be home! We are so happy to all 5 be together under one roof and we are so grateful for our family here helping us, and the kindness of friends sending prayers, food and thoughtful gifts.
We love you all.
God is good!
“He said to her, “Daughter, your faith has healed you. Go in peace and be freed from your suffering.””
