Journal entry by Cindy Velzke

Rejoice in hope, be patient in tribulation, be constant in prayer.  Romans 12:12

Welcome to 2024, hasn't this been a wonderful winter?  We tend to disagree about the answer to this question in our home these days.  Jeff and the boys didn't get much ice fishing in, but we also didn't have to plow any snow (yet).   Some fresh meals of fish were a tasty treat.  Things have been very quiet and uneventful...just the way we like it.

Jeff had a CT scan on 1/24/24 and everything is very stable with only slight changes since his last CT scan on 6/14/23.
There is a lung nodule that is slightly larger at 9.5mm vs 7mm previously.  No new nodules.  This nodule is still NOT classified as a tumor, it's a scarring that they have been watching since the beginning of this journey.  We will continue to watch this nodule and see what happens over the next 12 weeks.

Glory be to GOD!!!  Because Jeff is doing so well, he only has a CT scan every 12 weeks.  The dyes and chemicals in these tests aren't good for you either, it's all a balancing act.  The treatment continues with a visit to the oncology center every other Monday for an infusion and a pill that he takes on a rotating cycle.  His white blood count drops and they give him a shot of Neulasta to boost his white blood cells.  This shot causes some muscle pain and his treated with Claritin, yep the allergy med.  His CEA level remains stable at 5.6 (higher than normal, but not rising).

Hunting season was a success, 1 for our freezer, 1 for a friends freezer.  A special Thank you to Joe Williams for allowing us the hunting privileges'😍

We are very blessed, and celebrated with a trip to Costa Rica.  Jeff caught a nice fish (an Amberjack) and we both caught a tuna.
We ziplined, visited a rain forest, a volcano, swam in a waterfall and enjoyed many cocktails and laughs with friends.  We experienced a couple of healing adventures.  He swam in some natural volcanic hot springs that are supposed to have healing properties and we experienced a vortex.  This vortex was a spot that when we stopped our vehicle and shut it off the van rolled backwards up the hill.  Yep, read that again 😮  Gene Bauer this was a real phenomena 😱

Look in the photo gallery, I'll update with pics.

Love and Hugs,
