Journal entry by Becky Parrish —
Jeff had his 6 month PET scan on Monday and there is always a question in the back of Jeff’s mind, what if?… We met with the medical oncologist Tuesday morning. The scan was totally normal! His oncologist was so happy with the results. All the infiltration seen previously, thought to be radiation damage, is now gone! Clean as a whistle.
His labs were good and Jeff had #10 of his immunotherapy (Imfinzi) yesterday as planned every 4 weeks. It looks like he’ll have 3 more doses to get him through the end of February (1 full year on it). We haven’t discussed the details of the steps following this yet.
Jeff also followed up with his radiation oncologist yesterday afternoon. He is always so informative and explains everything well, going through the PET scan before treatment, after and comparing it with Monday’s scan. The cancer seen previously at the incision line where the middle lobe had been removed and the lymph node are totally gone. Dr. Adam was so happy about this. He also said the inflammatory damage from the radiation was gone, and the lungs have healed well. They both said, “excellent report!”
They don’t like to say the words “cancer free,” but instead use “no evidence of tumor.” We’ll take that!! Jeff feels well, stays active and is busy at work. Life is good and we have so much to be thankful for this year. We wish you all a Happy Thanksgiving and hope you spend time with family and friends you love and who love and care about you. Life is short, surround it with these people.
Hugs and kisses,
Becky
