Journal entry by Emily Peller —
A lot has changed since we’ve last updated on my Dad’s progress towards healing. My parents have since relocated to Florida. My dad had a check up with his physician in Florida to evaluate his injuries and overall health. This past Monday, he was officially cleared to be weight bearing and began physical therapy. He was able to take 3 steps forward and backward which was a huge step for him since he hasn’t walked since October. This was very emotional for my Dad! When he first stood he expressed how difficult it was and that his upper body felt extremely heavy. With beginning to walk again he’s experienced being lightheaded and off balanced which his therapist explained is normal after not walking for a long period of time. He will continue to go to physical therapy 3 times a week to gain strength back and improve his walking. In addition he does exercises multiple times a day at home. Today, he joined my grandma and mom on a walk and was able to go a full block with his walker. It’s so encouraging to see him progress so quickly in just a week! His strength and determination are inspiring to see! Thank you for the continued prayers for Dad!
