Journal entry by Penni Lalim

Good morning,

The procedure to close Jeff’s PFO went well yesterday. The cardiologist told us that the hole was pretty large so it was good that he had the surgery done. He will be on Plavix for 6 months and then they will repeat the bubble study to make sure that the hole is closed and that there is no blood flow between the right and left atriums.

We had anticipated coming home last night, but when we stopped at Lauren’s to pick up Eckoh Jeff started to bleed from the incision site. We called the hospital and were told to head back to the ER. They then did an ultrasound and found that he had an internal bleed but it had stopped. Being we were able to stay at Lauren’s, they were OK with releasing him with instructions that if he started bleeding again or the swelling increased we would have to go back in.

Jeff is pretty sore this morning but otherwise is doing well. Our plan is to head back to Granite this afternoon.

Thanks everyone for your messages, thoughts, prayers, and concern. We appreciate it more than you know!
