Jeff’s Story

Site created on February 8, 2023

Jeff was seriously injured after falling off a ladder on February 8th, 2023. He sustained a skull fracture, a couple neck fractures, broken hand and some bleeding on the brain. Thankfully he has motion and feelings in all of his extremities. He is currently in the Neuro ICU at Mercy. We thank everyone for their thoughts and prayers during this time.

Journal entry by Chris Jontz

We got our MRI results on Thursday last week. It showed there is no spinal cord damage or nerve damage.  We are thankful, although this has baffled us a bit, but we know and trust that God is in control - so for now we trust God and know that for whatever His purpose is - it’s the best. It’s working His plan out for His good. We know that He is in control and trust that His ways are better than our ways. That alone gives us comfort when in times of doubt we reassure ourselves of that promise 💙 At the appointment we did find out that Jeff did have more broken vertebrae, the scan showed  all the way down to T-6 showed signs of trauma but a lot of those have healed.

I pray that the pain and sensations that Jeff is having will not linger for long and that it will subside soon. But if not then we will chose to be thankful because Jeff’s still here with us, he can walk, talk and do many things that others that have fallen or had accidents before him or after can not do. These last couple of weeks have been a range of emotions. We’ve had friends that we’ve met through On With Life reach out to us and we will continue friendships with them probably forever. We are looking forward to the On With Life reunion to see if some of the people that Jeff was there with will be there. We also lost a dear friend and will say goodbye to him today that we met face to face  for the first time at On With Life. We have done business with him for many years, but we had never met in person. We definitely feel the loss of him passing and as a missed opportunity to know him more and encourage each other as a fellow business owner. It’s times like this that make you stop and realize that our time here is short and we need to make the most of our time with our family, friends and reaching out to people ❤️

Last weekend we were able to encourage our future son in law and daughter in a couples shower to welcome him into our family. Times like these we are so thankful that Jeff is here to share this with us.

In the busy and in the quiet - I thank God. You don’t know what you have until it’s almost taken from you or it is taken from you. Jeff and I are thankful for the almost 31 years we’ve had together and we hope for another 31 more but if God calls us home before then we will rest assured that the other is home in heaven with Jesus!

Unless something else changes drastically in Jeff’s  health this is my last post as Jeff is stable, improving and living life. I am so thankful to report that! Thank you so much for all of your prayers, meals, cards, well wishes, and every else that you all have done for us. You all have been the hands and feet of Jesus to us and we appreciate it more than you will ever know! We have so much to be thankful for! God is so good and we will see how God uses Jeff’s story to glorify Him 💙
