Journal entry by Cheryl Johnson —
Well prayer warriors, your prayers have been heard! Please read this heartfelt thank you to the end!
We just returned from going over his scans and he is CANCER FREE! There were clear margins all around the tumor. The only follow up now will be quarterly scans for a while. We did find out he had a rare form of cancer that only accounts for 5% of cancers in the kidney. Its called Chromophobe Renal Cell Carcinoma. His was stage 2. We are so grateful for Dr. Singh and his quick action. In one area of the tumor, it was only 1cm away from the outside edge of the kidney!
Its been a whirlwind of emotions over the last few weeks, but we have felt and continue to feel your prayers. Our God is an awesome God! We don't know why he has spared Jeff's life, and allowed him to avoid a long period of post cancer treatments, but we are incredibly grateful. At first diagnosis, what encouraged us so much was that no matter what, Jeff knows his Savior and would be healed either through medical healing or eternal healing in heaven. That knowledge brought peace that was palpable.
We have always wanted our friends to know that same peace and know Jesus' love and forgiveness. This experience has made sharing this truth even more urgent than before. Jeff and I trust Jesus, the Son of God for our salvation - believing He died on the cross for our sin, and through him we have forgiveness and are promised His saving grace. We do not deserve this and have in no way earned it! It is offered to all of us just for believing!! We have a relationship with Him and know we are unconditionally loved and that one day, when our time to leave this earth does come, we know we will have our heavenly healing and spend eternity with Jesus! If you don't have this peace and relationship with Him, we'd love to talk to you more!! If you are reading this we care about you and love you!
A $25 donation to CaringBridge powers a site like Jeff's for two weeks. Will you make a gift to help ensure that this site stays online for them and for you?
