Jeff’s Story

In 2016, Jeff was diagnosed with idiopathic pulmonary fibrosis (IPF).   There is no cure, only medication to slow the progress.  In 2019, the disease had progressed to the point where the medication was no longer working so I’ve been on oxygen 24/7 and unable to work since the Fall of 2019.

Jeff has  never smoked but was a professional Welder for 40+ years. The hazards of his livelihood more than likely caused IPF to develop and progress.

For the last year, Jeff has been blessed to be in the lung transplant program at Emory University.  This rigorous process has included extensive testing, dieting and physical therapy. He has lost 55 lbs and met all the physical requirements to be put on the transplant list.

Now, he's challenged with the last requirement which is to raise $5,000 by August 30, 2021.

Jeff and his wife, Judy have custody of their 15- year -old grandson, Chase. Jeff is devoted to becoming physically well so he can thrive as an active member of society, and most importantly work to provide for his family so he can be a role model to his grandson. Jeff says "I want Chase to know that if you work hard you can rise above any challenge that life throws your way with the help of God, family and friends".

Just a small donation will help Jeff reach his goal.  Your donation will be used for extensive care after the double lung transplant such as lodging (as he has to be in close proximity to the hospital) with a 24- hour caregiver and rehabilitation that could take up to 6 months.

💥Breaking News 💥 Jeff Hughes is talking and breathing on his OWN 24 hrs after a double lung transplant!!!
