Welcome to Jeff’s CaringBridge Site
Sign In to Show Your SupportZachary gets updates before we do since he is the donor and they always want to make sure he’s still willing to go through with this. So instead of rewriting what was told to him, I will simply post the informative email he received on where we are in the transplant process. This is not the best news but it’s not terrible, either. Jeff continues to fill with fluid faster than they can take it off. He requires lots of rest but his spirit is one of peace and patience. We really do trust in God’s timing. Thanks to all who are praying and standing with us.
“HI Zach,
Sorry for the delay in response! So in between your testing and getting your results, we learned that Dr. Barth, one of our recipient surgeons is leaving University of Maryland in the middle of august. The good news is that nothing changes for you. Dr. Lamattina and Dr. Malik are still the donor surgeons and are here for the long term. We have a new surgeon, Dr. Maluf, that will be taking Dr. Barth’s place on the recipient side of the surgery and as head of our liver program. He started this week but is waiting on credentialing before he can operate. He is coming from UVA and Tennessee with a long history in living donor liver transplant and liver transplant surgery so he will be a great addition to our team!
This will delay our ability to review your case until he is up and running, but I think that should be in the next few weeks! I will certainly let you know when we are planning on reviewing your case, and yours will be one of the first we review and schedule if everything looks ok.”
