Newest Update

Journal entry by Patricia Galle

Hello from the Galle household!! We decided it was time to provide an update about Jeff's recovery.

The big news is that Jeff went to Mass last evening!  It took a little while to leave the church because so many people wanted to visit with him.  Jeff was happy to see them and say thank you for all the many prayers during his illness.  He said, "I now truly believe in miracles!"

Jeff has been released to drive by his primary physician.  He has taken a few short trips and drives himself to physical therapy sessions in town.

Jeff has physical therapy sessions three times a week in Pittsfield.  I must say he is pretty tired when he returns home and sessions are often followed by a nap!

Jeff continues to use the walker but is transitioning to using the walking cane.  He is constantly aware of his balance and must still be cautious when walking.

Jeff has mastered dressing himself, but still needs assistance with taking a shower.  He uses a shower seat since it is sometimes difficult for him to stand for a long period of time.

Jeff is making great progress but still tires very easily.  The body needs a good amount of time to rejuvenate after having been dormant for so long.  It will be a while before he will be able to return to work full-time.

Jeff continues to have a good attitude and looks forward to the day when he can say he is 100%.  We are grateful to so many people who continue to help us along this journey.

Winter is now upon us and there is a fresh blanket of snow upon the ground that brings with it cold temperatures.  When we look at the dismal days, we can reflect on the signs of spring that will soon be upon us when we view the first signs of green grass and the flowers bursting forth from the earth.  The amazing gifts from God are around us each and every day.  We need only to see them through the eyes of a child to appreciate their many wonders.  May the love of God touch our hearts this week as we give thanks for His many gifts.

"As each one has received a special gift, employ it in serving one another as good stewards of the manifold grace of God."  ~~ 1 Peter 4:10
