After much discussion with our mom, we are using it to keep family and friends updated on her progress. We truly appreciate your support, love, prayers and words of hope and encouragement. We are all so grateful for your interest in our mom and taking the time to visit! . After a few weeks of severe stomach pain, mom thought this might be possibly an ulcer or gallbladder issue. She went to her primary care physician, who then ordered a CT scan of her abdomen and chest. The results displayed an abnormal thickness of the omentum (lining of the stomach). Her physician immediately referred her to the U of M Gynecologic Oncologist, Dr. Peter Argenta. Dr. Argenta reviewed the scan images and identified spots on the ovaries, accompanied by irregularities of the omentum. The results lead to a surgery for removal of multiple tumors, which were discovered to be malignant during surgery.
Mom spent two weeks in the hospital to recover. The recovery did have some bumps in the road with a stomach obstruction that required further attention. This is when the plan for treating her cancer was formulated. They are treating her as an ovarian stage 3 cancer patient. They called it Peritoneal Carcinoma. Chemotherapy will begin Friday, July 19th. Dr. Catherine Casey of Minnesota Oncology will be her physician.
Thank you again for all your prayers, love and support. We are truly grateful and love you all! We will keep you all updated during our mom's journey.
