Jean’s Story

Site created on May 30, 2011

Since the mid 2000's I have had two hip surgeries, a colostomy surgery, iliostomy surgery, and a history of intestinal food blockages and shut-downs after surgery, leading to sometimes life threatening complications. In 2011 a spinal fracture limited my ability to sit upright in my wheelchair and I now need to tilt back frequently. Currently we are trying to prevent intestinal issues by avoiding foods that can block the iliostomy, but other factors such as scar adhesions from previous surgeries, slower moving bowels due to my aging spinal cord injury (1980), and intestinal shut-downs after surgery are beyond my control. In 2016 an ER doctor diagnosed me with a hernia, probably caused by my ostomy. Because of past surgery complications, surgery was not an option, but God healed it through your prayers. After a scan showed it was gone the surgeon said, "We believe in prayer around here."  In 2018 I was in ICU ten days with pneumonia before being sent home with new breathing equipment to use as needed. In August 2022 I was diagnosed with massive kidney stones in both kidneys that will require three separate surgical procedures to remove them.

Jean's respiratory issues seem to be going up and down but this evening her breathing has beome very difficult.  She would appreciate your continued prayers.  I am headed down now to spend the night with her.
