Newest Update

Journal entry by Amanda Kreutzbender

Just a quick update letting everyone know that Mom had her surgery today to remove her thyroid. I am on my knees in prayer that with this surgery, her body is cleared of all cancer! 🙏🙏🙏

She handled the surgery well and it went as expected. There were 2 nodules in her thyroid with one of them being quite large which was pushing on her trachea. The doctor said everything came out beautifully and has been sent for a biopsy. We know from the needle biopsy last May that there is cancer, but we will get more details about next steps after this biopsy.

Mom is in the hospital tonight for sure to recover. We were able to talk to her briefly and she said she is feeling okay. She notices a difference in how her neck feels and when she got up to use the restroom, she did not have labored breathing 🙌🏻 The doctors can not say if this will help with the breathing issues Mom has had the last several months, but so far, Mom is feeling positive! 🙏🙏🙏

Mom had a few doctor appointments throughout the month and some new scans. The doctor appointments all seem to say that things are mostly stable 🙌🏻 She also had her first follow up PET scan since all of this started. The doctor said everything looks fine and she will have a CT in 3 months and another PET scan in 6 months 🙌🏻

Dad had a pretty low key month as well as he has had to fight off various bugs/viruses that he keeps getting. He continues to recover from surgery and is doing really well. 🙌🏻 He even made it out on the ice once to do a little fishing which was probably the best medicine of all for him!

We thank God to be in this place that we have so desperately prayed to get to. We continue to pray that the deepest of valleys are behind us and we will keep climbing up the mountain from here on out! There are still trails to be traveled, but prayerfully we stay on this positive trajectory. 🙏🙏🙏

We so sincerely thank you all for walking this journey with us. There is no doubt this has been a tough one, but nobody is walking it alone and for that we are deeply grateful. 🙌🏻
