As some of you know, colon cancer runs in my family (on maternal father's side), so when we did genetic testing for breast cancer (which was negative) we also checked for genetic issues for colon cancer -- also negative. But, the genetic testing for colon cancer is not as accurate. 11 years ago I had a colonoscopy which was fine and they said I could do a Colorguard this time. Results came in today and they were also negative. Yeah!
But that's not the good news... a friend of mine was diagnosed with stage 3B breast cancer about the same time I was. She's been through multiple chemos, surgery and radiation, so much more than I've had to endure and she's been amazing. We've been checking in with each other and as of her last checkup (a week ago) she heard those wonderful words... no evidence of disease. I've been so worried about her and I am so relieved. Now, let's get a vaccine for COVID so she and I can see each other and celebrate.
Happy Thanksgiving to everyone. Only one of the boys home this year for Thanksgiving and maybe Christmas but as we said last night, Easter... Easter may be an amazing party.
