Newest Update

Journal entry by Phil Rich

Howdy friends! We are getting use to the new rhythm of home health. It’s still a tiresome task to administer these IV meds at 6am, 2pm, and 10pm but at least we can create some rhythm now (see photo). And it gives Jean Marie and I a full-proof way to check in with each other three times a day! :) We are also trying to find a better rhythm with her pill medications so that sleeping is easier and we are afforded more breaks rather than her having to take meds every two hours!

Jean Marie is feeling much better during the daytime. She is getting a lot more movements in and has been able to start walking around the house a little more without the assistance of a walker. We even ventured out to Costco (see photo!) which was probably more fun for me than her. I enjoyed that any time I couldn’t find her I just looked around the store for the little orange flag on the back of her motor cart! We also went to a park with the kids today (see photo). It was so nice to get out and get some sun!

I also just want to share how much of a blessing it has been to have dinners provided by so many of you over these past few weeks. Still finding a rhythm with these meds and IV treatments in addition to keeping up with the house and starting to get back to work with Impact, it has been nice to not have to plan dinners. The meal train has been extended a bit more if any of you are interested in providing a meal. Here is the link: https://www.mealtrain.com/trains/qkr8zl

Thank you again to everyone who has supported us and doing sweet things for us through gift cards, fun deliveries, texts, and prayer. We definitely feel like we are in a much more stable place to handle more communication. I know Jean Marie would love to hear from people if you wanted to chat and check in a bit. We will continue to update this periodically but we imagine right now this is our new normal. Main prayer requests are:

1) PICC line to stay free of infection and properly working.
2) Pill Meds to provide comfort and rest as the antibiotics do their job.
3) Physical Rest. Getting up at 5:45am and not going to bed until after 10:45pm because of this IV schedule makes getting sleep difficult. 31 more days of this! :|
