Journal entry by Jean Bublitz

Its been some time since I have come home. First of all, I want to thank Jesus for the miracles and the gift of life. I am so happy to be alive. Next, thanks to my amazing family. To Kevin, Netanya, Nicole and Jared, I am so beyond blessed to have you in my life. The transition from hospital to home has been smooth and that is because of how you all take such good care of me.
And to all the people who have helped us Reno our home, thank you so much. It looks beautiful and I appreciate all the time you put into making it so lovely.

This site has been a really nice tool for us to let people know what was going on. My family did a great job writing posts and it has been enlightening for me as I have had to piece things together as well. Thank you to all who have commented, etc. I have read every post.

This journey has been surreal for me, most definitely the hardest thing I have gone through, I still feel at times like its a long dream that I will wake up from and things will be back to normal. When I first woke up, it was not hard for me to accept that I lost a leg. That to me, is the power of prayer. I know that so many of you prayed for me and God heard your prayers.
I don’t remember much from being in the ICU, I remember more from being in the surgical ward, and the most from the rehab ward. Please feel free to ask questions, I am not opposed to telling you about it :)

Since being home, I have struggled with a lot of nausea and for me, being sick like that was harder than some of the painful things I dealt with. After being home about 2 weeks, I was admitted to Vanderhoof hospital for a couple days for IV fluid treatment and a gastroscopy. The gastroscopy showed that there was bleeding in my stomach from all the trauma and drugs. The doctor put me on different meds and these have been working much better. Eating is still a challenge and I seem to want small portions throughout the day. It’s getting better and I am thankful for that.

My prosthetic is in the process of being made and then the new challenge for me will be learning to walk again. I am excited and aprehensive about this process, so I would appreciate prayer for this.

I am not sure why this has happened to me and I may never know, but it has, and I want to make the most of the time I have left here on earth. God spared my life, more than once, so I am pretty sure there is more left for me to do. So, looking ahead I am blessed and thankful for each day. In the moments when I start to complain, I choose to give thanks to the Lord for life. I am looking forward to the day when I can walk and be mobile again as I do miss being active, but I have learned how to be more relaxed and I guess that’s a good thing :)

Thank you so much for all your prayers, I know that I have been “carried”. It’s been an amazing thing to feel God’s power in this way. I have the best family, the most caring friends, and the most supportive church family.

Thank you,
Jean
