Light of a Clear Blue Morning
by Dolly Parton
It's been a long dark night
And I've been waiting for the morning
It's been a long hard fight
but I see a brand new day a dawning
I've been looking for the sunshine
'cause I ain't seen it in so long
Everything's gonna work out fine
Everything's gonna be alright
It's gonna be okay
And I've been waiting for the morning
It's been a long hard fight
but I see a brand new day a dawning
I've been looking for the sunshine
'cause I ain't seen it in so long
Everything's gonna work out fine
Everything's gonna be alright
It's gonna be okay
I can see the light of a clear blue morning
I can see the light of a brand new day
I can see the light of a clear blue morning
Everything's gonna be alright
It's gonna be okay
I can see the light of a brand new day
I can see the light of a clear blue morning
Everything's gonna be alright
It's gonna be okay
The good news is there is no big news. David is steadily making progress, getting stronger and gaining stamina. The blood work at his 60 day check up, in February, was really good and he has not caught any bugs or, heaven forbid, covid or flu. He has maintained the prescribed protocol and it has worked well for him.
The disappointment was our learning that the newest research shows that vaccinations are not so effective if given before 6 months. At the beginning we were told that he would have the first ones at 2 months. He has had his first shingles shot and will get 6 more vaccinations (at the same time) in June. Annual vaccinations (covid, flu) will be given in the fall in the regular rotation. It will take 2 years to get all of the shots and boosters.
The great news is that he is building his own immunity. The not so great news is that the protocol will continue longer than we had hoped.
In March (at the 3 month mark) he will have a brain MRI to make sure he is still clear of cancer. That will continue every 3 months for 2 years.
What can he do?
He can have company with distancing, masking or visiting outside.
He can participate in outside activities which is great especially with spring on its way.
He can answer the phone and enjoy your conversations.
If you would like to visit or go for a walk with him (he is up to 1.5-2 miles), ride in a golf cart, go to a baseball game or take him for outside dining, he is your man! As the keeper of his calendar, just let me know.
We have had a few special outings - to Mark Hewitt's studio (private tour), Fearrington House (where they provided private rooms for dining) and Boone/Blowing Rock where he could stroll and eat ice cream. All have been therapeutic.
That's it for now. Thank you for keeping him in your prayers and for continuing to call, text and email.
