Jake’s Story

Site created on July 26, 2023

Many of us have followed Jake's journey through cancer treatment since his leukemia diagnosis in October 2021. Recently, Jake's situation has become more complicated. Here, we'll share updates on Jake's condition and treatment plan. Most importantly, we'll share our support for Jake, Heather, and their families.

Journal entry by Heather Pritchett

It's been more than seven months since Jake passed, and he's missed and loved every single day. Jake's family and I would like to share with you that thanks to funds raised via Jake's GoFundMe fundraiser and your outpouring of love and support, we had enough funds to purchase a memorial bench in Jake's memory. The funds raised paid for Jake's care and Celebration of Life service, and we had enough leftover to purchase a beautiful bench as a tribute to Jake that will be placed on the campus of the school where he worked for 15+ years, St. Stephen's and St. Agnes. We are delighted to have a bench where loved ones can visit and think of Jake in a place that was so special to him. Jake loved taking walks and being in nature, so it is very fitting to honor Jake in this way.

We are having a bench dedication ceremony on Friday, April 5th at 4:00pm at the Lower School campus (400 Fontaine St, Alexandria, VA 22302). Faculty from the school are invited, as well as Jake's family, friends and loved ones. If you plan to attend, please RSVP here. There will be a reception following the ceremony with light refreshments.

Thank you for your continued love and support for Jake, his family, and me.
