Newest Update

Journal entry by John Carroll

Thank you for your continued prayers, encouragement and support on my healing journey. With the oncologist moving our appointments to every 90 days, I've started to get an interim test for PSA level every six weeks. Tomorrow (Thursday, September 28) would be exactly six weeks since the last test. I was in a meeting of the Roper St. Francis Healthcare Patient Family Experience Council (PFEC) in the same building midday today and went upstairs to the oncology clinic afterward, hoping to save a trip even though it was a day earlier than I had planned to have blood drawn for the test. They were kind enough at the clinic to fit me into the schedule and the results were available shortly afterwards. Here's the entire history, along with the latest result in bold at the bottom of the list:

Date                PSA score

October 20, 2022 1,208.0

November 3         1,409.0

November 15         724.0

December 8             43.6

January 6, 2023         5.9

January 26                 2.4

February 7                 1.8

March 2                     0.9

March 23                   0.5

April 13                     0.4

May 4                        0.3

May 25                      0.3

July 7                        0.3

August 17                 0.4

September 27         0.7

As you can see, this is the second in a series of upticks since three straight results of 0.3 in spring and early summer. The alternative medicine doctor says this result is still within normal range and is recommending a return to a couple of supplements, one that we had stopped and another that had been changed to a lower dosage.

The clinic also ran CBC with Auto Differential and a Comprehensive Metabolic Panel. There are a few scores slightly out of desired range there, so I'll check with him on those as well and let you know.

This healing journey remains in God's hands with the team intact and our considering additional therapies to encourage and strengthen the body and its systems to greater overall wellness, health and energy. I'm continuing with Vitamin C IV (75 grams) and a combination Super Myers Cocktail with glutathione on alternating weeks. I've just signed up for 12 of each which should carry me through most of the next six months, paying up front for each to get the lowest overall price. These are out of pocket investments in health, with insurance and other funding sources covering some of the other things we've had since the early days of this healing journey, mostly prescription medicines.

Nutrition is improving following the summer season of moving into our new home. That's an ongoing process with a storage unit yet to be emptied, boxes to be unpacked and keepsakes to be organized and stored in the area above the garage. It's been said that moving is one of the most stressful things we experience in this life. We're grateful to God for getting us from three fully furnished living spaces to a single space we now call home.

That's it for now. Thank you again for your prayers, your encouragement and your support. Your generous care and love shows up in so many ways and we're grateful for all of them.

God's got this, all of this.

Keep the faith,
John
