J. Brooks’s Story

Site created on October 7, 2021

On September 24th our world changed forever when we were told that Brooks needed an oncologist to address the pain he had been having in his back. Since then Brooks has had two major surgeries, we are now facing Cancer.

What treatment will look like is still unknown. Thank you for you love, friendship, and support.

Journal entry by Karen King-Watt

Hello everyone,

We spent the past couple of days at Dana Farber where BrooksDad had bloodwork, liver tests, CT Scans, and a Brain Scan.  His medical team has been watching his liver closely since his large doses of prednisone last year created some abnormalities.

We had wonderful news, liver enzymes are down significantly since three months ago.  It appears that the Ipi/Nivo medications are continuing to work in Brooks body, there is no sign of cancer.  All tests are clean and Dr Sussman once again assured us that Dad was in long term remission.  We did have to say goodbye to Dr Sussman who is moving back to Cleveland, she was amazing, we feel that she saved Brooks life.  The best news is that the next set of scans will be in six months instead of three!

While we did our marathon walks between Brigham & Women’s and Dana Farber yesterday we took a moment to visit Wally!  We arrived on Cape Cod yesterday afternoon!  We will be here for the next two months.

Love to everyone….have a wonderful summer!  Brooks and Karen
