Jay’s Story

Site created on June 15, 2019

Everyone who is lucky enough to know Jay knows of his love of nature, his quirky sense of humor, his unending compassion, and his dolphin laugh. You may also know about Boris, his pesky brain tumor.  With the fortitude,  faith and fun that he is famous for, Jay is facing this head-on (pardon the pun). He will undergo surgery on July 29 and so his friends have put together this CaringBridge site to help him with his recovery.

Check out the WAYS TO HELP section and sign up to be on a team for FOOD (he loves sundried tomatoes) TRANSPORTATION, KNOCK-KNOCK JOKES, and so on! Let's keep him fed, laughing and thriving during his recovery. He will be recuperating at our friend Christopher's house at 251 Old Haw Creek Road 28805 in East Asheville. Please use the door to the right of the main house door, as that will get you directly to Jay's room!

Jay is always the first one to reach out to others in crisis. Let's return the favor.

Journal entry by Jodi Ford

Hey everyone! So apparently this site doesn't allow visitors to make notes on the Planner under Ways to Help, so I created a Google Calendar so you can list when you will be able to drop off food and so on. You will need a gmail account in order to access this calendar.

If you want to join the meal train, just choose a date and put in your name and an estimate of what time you'll be able to swing by with the yummies. Jay LOVES sundried tomatoes, mushrooms, hashbrown casserole, comfort food, chicken pot pie, orzo, spinach, and quiche but please be very light on the salt! He LOATHES raw onions, raw tomatoes, iceberg lettuce, lasagna, or seafood.

Jay is at our friend Christopher's house in what he is calling the recuputorium at 251 Old Haw Creek Rd in East Asheville-- just get on New Haw Creek rd, take a left onto Cisco then turn right onto Old Haw Creek at the stop sign. 251 Old Haw Creek is on the right just down the hill-- you'll turn at a "for rent" sign onto the driveway. There is a door with prayer flags to the far right of the main door. That is the door to Jay's recuputorium.

It would be best to text Jay to let him know you're coming over as the door is a bit away from his bed so he can listen for the knock. There may be times when you may leave the food on the porch in case he's sleeping 😃 .

Thanks for being a part of Jay's recovery and a part of his life!!!! Cheers, Jodi
