Welcome to Jay’s CaringBridge Site
Sign In to Show Your SupportWe traveled to Jacksonville yesterday for his post radiation MRI last night. This was a series of 3 MRIs (Brain, Lumbar spine and Thoracic Spine).
His lumbar spine and thoracic spine look good and show no evidence of an ependymoma. They will continue to monitor this as the ependymoma has a tendency to reoccur in the spine.
Brain MRI shows that “The cystic component appear grossly stable.”
Comparing the March ‘24 scan from when radiation was completed to the scans taken Tuesday night; the cystic component has decreased in size NEARLY HALF of what it was. The oncologist foresees it to continue to shrink over the next year. Jay will have to have MRIs every 3 months until the end of the year and then move to every 4/6 with the next few years to follow.
So GREAT sign the radiation is working and shrinking it. Please continue to pray for the radiation to keep doing its thing. Jay has been having so many great days lately and feeling like a completely new person! We just celebrated him turning 32 and know it’s going to be the best year yet!
**Picture was a celebratory beer when the results were posted before the appointment! A lot of happy tears were shed!!
We can thank everyone enough who made it possible for us to be able to travel back and forth to the Mayo Clinic in Jacksonville. It’s truly shown he made the right decision on the highly trained and highly recommended surgeons, oncologist, neurologist and radiologist down there that we have spent the last 8 months with and we are forever grateful!
