Jaxson’s Story

Site created on February 18, 2023

Jaxson was doing what he loved, snowboarding at Hyland on his birthday with his dad and sister when he fell on one of his runs. He was rushed via ambulance to HCMC. He sustained injuries to his head and face (an orbital fracture, TBI and brain bleeds). He is currently in the ICU sedated and on a ventilator getting the best care possible. The next few days will be crucial. Doctors have told us to expect several weeks in the hospital followed by several weeks of inpatient rehabilitation.

Journal entry by Erin Rykken

Jaxson’s  first full week home was great. He had a bunch of appointments yesterday with his therapists and did better on all of the assessments he had taken leaving Courage Kenny.  We saw the neurosurgeon team as well and they were also impressed by Jaxson’s recovery and his determination.

Everyone is welcome to join fellow riders, family and friends to help celebrate Jaxson  (the real moon) on his homecoming and road to recovery at 11:45am on Sunday, March 26. His board will be officially hung on the walls by the rental area at Hyland Hills.
