Day 465- Maintenance cycle 3, Day 1
We made it through cycle 2, but just like cycle 1, it was not easy. Jax fought Astrovirus, C Diff, Rhino/Entero, Parainfluenza, an ear infection, leg pain, headaches, low counts, and had 3 hospital admissions. He missed multiple days of preschool and won’t be able to go back until his counts go up.
Today, he had his 15th lumbar puncture (spinal tap), received Intrathecal Methotrexate, IV Vincristine, IV Pentamidine, and starts a round of steroids (Joe please send chips!). He’s also going to take two doses of a new med to help him clear the methotrexate so his counts don’t drop even more.
We will continue to hold his daily chemo until his counts rise. We return to clinic next week for bloodwork to see if he can resume chemo, but also to check his hemoglobin and platelets because they continue to decrease.
We are extremely lucky to have the strongest, happiest, and funniest 5 year old I know. He’s one hell of a fighter. Thank you for your continued support and prayers ❤️
